The New Approach: Film Director Series
Four Week Intensive With Indie Film Director Dan Ireland
Thursdays @ 7:30p – August 6th-27th, 2015 – $275
Independent feature film director, Dan Ireland, knows how to work with actors (just check out the amazing list of people he’s had to pleasure to direct – including Jessica Chastain in a breakout performance in her very first screen role!) – and draw critically acclaimed performances out of them that they didn’t even think were possible. From his very first outing as director, with actress Renee Zellweger, Dan has demonstrated an adeptness at helping his talent create characters of incredible depth, nuanced performances rich with emotion, and a screen persona audiences are drawn towards. Throughout his career, Dan has excelled at working with unproven talent – and making them shine. And it is this approach to working with actors that Dan Ireland has honed as a film director – which he brings to this unique acting course.
For Dan, it’s about working with actors in a way in which they bring something to the role that even the director hasn’t thought of… the ability to show something about the character that no one knows… the ability to break it down, and to learn to do that for yourself.
In this course, each actor will work with Dan one-on-one – putting together a performance on one role only through the entire 4-week class time. Dan will teach them how to get themselves… the pieces of their personality… connected to the role, in a very deep and integral manner – and in so doing, they put a unique stamp on a role that no one else can accomplish in the same way.
Week one will include a director/cast interviews, as well as performance time. The following weeks will also include on-camera work being made available to each actor for review. Every actor who joins the class must come into week 1 prepared to work on a role of their choosing that they believe their personality connects to.
Limited enrollment! All major credit cards accepted.
