Mary Pickford (1892-1979) — Famed motion picture actress, co-founder of the film studio United Artists and one of the original 36 founders of the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences. (Target age is 25 – 35)



Walt Disney (1901-1966) — American film producer, director, screenwriter, voice actor, animator, entrepreneur, entertainer, international icon and philanthropist, well known for his influence in the field of entertainment during the 20th century. Co- founder of Walt Disney Productions, which later became one of the best- known motion picture producers in the world. (Target age is 35 – 50)



William Mulholland (1855-1935) – Supervised the Los Angeles Aqueduct and was the head of a predecessor department to the Los Angeles Department of Water and Power. He was responsible for building the city water infrastructure and providing a water supply that allowed the city to grow into one of the largest in the world. (Target age is 45- 60)



Seiichi Kito (??) – founder of Fugetsu-do bakery, the oldest food purveyor in Los Angeles, Seiichi moved to LA from Japan and opened his bakery in 1903 in Little Tokyo. Specializes in the art of mocha and manju making, but also the supposed inventor of the fortune cookie. (Target age is 25-35)



Ruth Handler (1916-2002) — Co-founder of Mattel and inventor of Barbie. (Target age is 45 – 55)



Howard Hughes (1905-1976) — Oil business, movies, aviation and eccentric as one could be. (Target age is 25 – 35)



Harriet Williams Russell Strong (1844-1926) — American social activist, inventor, Conservationist, and leading figure of the early woman’s movement. A member of the National Women’s Hall of Fame, Harriet was a walnut farmer and was first female member of the L.A. Area Chamber of Commerce. (Target age is 50 – 65)



Jackie Robinson (1919-1971)– an American baseball player who became the first black Major League Baseball player of the modern era. Robinson broke the baseball color line. (Target age is 30 – 40)



Future of Los Angeles – this kid will represent the future of Los Angeles. He will tell us who he is and what he’ll do in his lifetime. (Target age is 8 – 12)
